SensoryStrength Training (SST) — classic exercises performed with the eyes closed, so the body learns to trust its own senses. An evidence-based movement system and a patented balance platform, built by a former 400 m hurdler turned physiotherapist.

01 — Who I am

Engineer of movement

Dmytro Bezpamiatnyi is a movement specialist, physiotherapist, strength & conditioning coach, inventor and author — founder and CEO of Roll and Balance Inc. in Miami.

Former elite 400 m hurdler — Ukrainian national champion, World Junior Championships participant (2012) and European Championship finalist, national record holder at 400 m. An injury ended that career. Rehabilitating himself led him to physiotherapy — and to the system he now calls SensoryStrength Training.

02 — The method

Sensory
Strength Training

The core of SST: classic exercises performed with the eyes closed.

Without vision the body can no longer orient itself to the horizon. It has to rely on its internal sense — proprioception: signals from muscle spindles and other receptors in muscles, tendons and fascia. So the training builds proprioceptive control instead of visual compensation — and, through neuroplasticity, that control stays.

“With your eyes closed, you make your brain switch from ‘I see and I do’ to ‘I feel and I do’.”Conscious Movement, the SST book · p. 47
01

Eyes closed

Not an occasional drill but the central, mandatory tool — at every level, from the simplest exercise to the hardest.

02

Neuromuscular coordination

How muscles are switched on, in what order and how precisely.

03

Breathing

Diaphragmatic breathing and intra-abdominal pressure support the spine from inside and keep the mind calm under instability.

04

Myofascial chains

The body trained as connected lines, not isolated muscles.

05

Basic patterns

Walking, squatting, hinging — perfected first, because every complex movement is built on them.

Four progressive phases

Each phase is a new challenge for the nervous system.

Dmytro doing a bodyweight squat on a flat floor

Phase 1: Classic technique, then eyes closed

The movement is learned on a stable floor until it is clean — then repeated with the eyes closed, guided only by the body’s own map.

Squat on an unstable dome

Phase 2: Instability & deep stabilisation

The same patterns on unstable support. The body reads every micro-shift of the base and the deep stabilisers switch on.

Single-leg stance holding a kettlebell

Phase 3: Open chain & asymmetry

From two legs to one: a smaller base, uneven loads and the lateral hip stabilisers at work.

Single-leg balance against a resistance band pulling from the side

Phase 4: External stimuli

Bands, loads and unexpected pushes: control is kept while the body answers forces from outside — as in real life and sport.
